Essential to producing high-quality recycled materials, waste sorting and classification benefit from a wide range of equipment designed for highly specific tasks, which not only sorts accurately but also maximizes material recovery.

With increasing levels of digitalization, automation and AI (artificial intelligence), it is reaching even higher levels of quality and productivity.

Digitalization and automation are a particular focus for Stadler, a company that implements receiving and sorting systems for plastic waste, paper, municipal solid waste (MSW) and other materials. It also manufactures much of the equipment used in those systems, including conveyor belts, ballistic separators and rotary screens.

“In our plants today, we integrate sensors that capture parameters related to vibration, temperature, stream composition and the identification of objects within that stream,” says André Galuppo, director of Stadler Brasil.
